While the rest of the U.S. economy may not exactly be burning up the charts, one industry – the call center industry – would seem to be hiring like mad. Hardly a day passes without news of another call center increasing its staffing in existing facilities, or building new facilities.
Today, it's business processing services (and call center outsourcing) provider NCO Group, Inc., which has announced it plans to expand the work force at its Charleston, West Virginia contact center, according to the Associated Press (News - Alert). The jobs will support an existing client of NCO's.
Officials from the State of West Virginia, together with NCO company officials, made the announcement Friday. The company plans to begin hiring about 90 call center associates and invest more than $350,000 in equipment and training at the center.
“We are pleased that NCO has chosen to create new jobs and expand its workforce here in West Virginia,” said Governor Earl Ray Tomblin in response to the announcement. “This announcement testifies to the confidence the company has in the quality and productivity of West Virginia employees.”
NCO is looking to fill full-time positions to provide customer service support for one of its utility clients, according to the AP. The company also plans to hire call center managers, trainers and supervisors. Employees will be offered benefits packages.
As a BPO provider, NCO Group is primarily focused on accounts receivable management and customer relationship management. The company offers its services through over 100 offices throughout North America, Asia, Europe and Australia.
