Virgin Media (News - Alert) recently set up new methods of recruitment for the more than 250 new staff that were required for their new call centre based in Swansea. The expanding broadband provider announced that it would be creating over 650 new jobs spread all over the UK this year in its attempts to keep up with increasing demand for its television and broadband services.
Approximately 500 positions out of the 650 will be in call centers and the remaining will be engineers. This new call centre in Swansea is the second one in the city for Virgin.
In a release, Paul Buttery, Virgin Media’s Chief Customer and Networks Officer, said, "This investment will benefit a number of communities across the country and we're particularly proud that we're able to provide so many young people with a much needed start in these challenging economic times.” He went on to add that the company hoped to be able to provide several opportunities for youngsters who have been struggling to find employment in this time of economic crisis.
This announcement of fresh jobs came about just when Virgin Media made public that it had successfully turned around its loss of over $100 million in the third quarter of 2011 to a $70 million profit in the final quarter of this year.
Virgin Media Inc provides fixed and mobile telephone as well as television and broad band Internet services to businesses as well as consumers in the UK. It functions out of an executive office based in New York City, USA and through an operational headquarters in Hook, United Kingdom.
