Job seekers in Sandy, Utah, may find some relief for their unemployment woes: a new call center is seeking candidates for a whopping 1,600 positions. Whether job seekers are looking for part-time positions or full-time call center jobs, both are available at the new General Dynamics (News - Alert) IT center, located at 8745 S. Sandy Parkway.
According to its website, General Dynamics IT tier-1 customer service representatives will be responsible for delivering general healthcare information to callers. The company requests that candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a minimum of six months of experience in telemarketing, customer service, or secretarial work. It is noted in their job listings that employees may be required to work overtime and some holidays. In their off-site job ads, General Dynamics boasted that they have been in business for more than 50 years, and they have approximately 21,000 professionals around the world. While many of the details about the call center are vague, as noted by The Salt Lake Tribune, those applying for call center jobs often find themselves in such a position, as detailed by TMC’s (News - Alert) Tracey Schelmetic in her recent call center column.
There are a number of other positions available—including supervisors, quality specialists, call center managers, and trainers—which job seekers can find out more about on the website or by attending the company’s recruitment event. General Dynamics’ “family fun day” will be hosted at its Sandy Parkway address on Saturday, August 31st, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In an e-mail to The Salt Lake Tribune, Jennifer Harvey, a company representative, said that the call center will support a contract that the company recently won with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Harvey added, “General Dynamics IT was awarded [the] contract to provide contact center support to respond to inquiries from CMS customers, beneficiaries and new federally facilitated exchange enrollees nationwide.”
