San Antonio-based Culture Service Growth LLC is hiring 300 new employees. The company contracts customer service and back office work processing insurance applications.
The company is just three years old, and the new additions will bring its employee numbers to 550. Tim Handren, the company’s co-founder, states, “We have existing clients that are expanding. We were just an idea three years ago, so it's been very exciting for us.”
The new job openings include a wide range of positions, from entry-level call center jobs to management. These positions pay up to $42,000 a year with benefits and a matching 401(K).
Front-line call center jobs pay between $26,000 and $33,000 a year. Positions for licensed property and casualty agents also come with commission on top of salary.
Most of the positions are permanent and full time, but there are some part time positions available.
“A lot of times it gets busy in the evenings, which is great for students,” Handren said.
The company was founded in 2010 by Handren and partner Tim Montgomery. Montgomery’s resume includes The Scooter Store, Incoming Calls Management Institute and Coca-Cola.
“Both Tim and I wanted to create the company that we always wanted to work at,” Handren explained. “We don't have a lot of the punitive environments that we've seen in other places.”
In 2011 the company added 70 employees and 180 more in 2012. The CSG Call Center takes inbound calls for seven different companies. It has two separate buildings both located on Datapoint Drive in the Medical Center area.
Workforce Solutions Alamo spokesperson Eva Esquivel, said “Call centers could be a good way to enter or re-enter the job market. That's definitely an occupation that we've seen growth in. It's especially advantageous for someone with a high school diploma or GED to get their foot in the door and to learn new skills.”
“Anytime you can interact with the public, it hones your soft skills,” she added. “You also get to learn to work with computer applications and data entry.”
